Gear Up for the New Year: Two Car Care Resolutions to Keep

The new year is a time for fresh starts and getting organized.  Let's resolve to give our vehicles the the attention they deserve! Not only will this keep your car running smoothly, but it will also save you time and money in the long run. Read on to discover two easy car care resolutions you can start implementing today:

1.  Add regular maintenance reminders to your 2025 calendar.

Don't wait for problems to arise.  Schedule regular calendar reminders throughout the year when you pledge to dedicate a few minutes to taking stock of your vehicle’s preventive maintenance needs. 

Look at your calendar and choose the times of the year when the weather changes or before a road trip.  It won’t take long to add a handful of “check-in” calendar reminders that’ll make regular maintenance a priority but not a preoccupation.  Think of how good it’ll feel to have a year-long maintenance timetable in place!

2.  Get busy when you’re waiting at the pump.

Filling your car up with gas is a regular event in the lives of all vehicle owners.  However, there’s not much to do when you’re waiting for the tank to fill.  May we suggest that, after securing the fuel pump and with safety as a priority, take a walk around your car.  Check out your tires (not just the driver side tire) for proper inflation, tread wear, and signs of damage.  

Inspect your windshield wiper blades (front and back) and take advantage of the window washing equipment available at most stations. 

Once you’re fueled up and back in your car, check that your lights (headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals) are functioning correctly.  Speaking of lights…are there any warning lights that stay “on” once you start driving?  If so, take note!
